Spread through a few galleries and a set of travel logs here are impressions from road trips through the US southwest in the summers of 2005 and 2006.
Beginning once in Tucson, AZ, and once in Sacramento, CA, I spent a total of almost two months driving through, hiking and exploring the breathtaking natural beauty and cultural history that is Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.
There's pretty much never enough time to spend in this fantastic area, but I managed to take in and enjoy a great number of the highlights of the region (Grand, Antelope and Bryce Canyons, Zion, The Wave, Canyonlands, Arches, Mesa Verde, Chaco to name a few) and covered quite a bit of road on my loop drives of 3942 miles (6344km) and xxxx miles (xxxxkm).
Even two months is not a lot of time for the high density of wonders offered by the region, so I'm sure I'll be back in the not too distant future!
While the best way to see this truly beautiful part of the world is going there yourself, I hope these pictures (selected from just over 5000! shots I took) convey at least an impression of the many wonderful things to see in the Southwest.
Throughout the travel logs and the galleries I have include links to relevant or interesting web sites as well as links to my favorite recent addition to the Google family, Google Maps, which serve either as an informative map or as a spectacular satellite photo of the places I have been.
